I felt drawn into the creepy atmosphere of this story from the very beginning. Greenwood knows how to set a very creepy mood with seemingly ordinary situations.
Then he gets into the character of the protagonist and deftly draws a picture of someone who has a lot to deal with in his life. I certainly empathized a lot with some of his feelings.
In the beginning, I thought I knew approximately where the story was going and I couldn't be happier to say that I was wrong. I'm afraid to say anything because I don't want to spoil it but the horror and personal growth go together in this story. Looking forward to seeing more horror stories from Greenwood.

Obsidian A Tale of Suspense edition by J Alexander Greenwood Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I read from start to finish and enjoyed the journey. I'm inspired to keep writing and sharing stories. Great read.
This is a touching short story that shows a father's love for his 2 sons and the different ways instinct tells us things. The story is sweet and scary, a very good short story.
I bough this because I went to high school with the author. But I have to say it was a good read. I look forward to seeing what else this author put out there.
"Obsidian" is creepy good. It had me staring out my window as I read it late at night, fearful I might find something staring back at me!

Mr. Greenwood knows how to build suspense in this short piece. I'm glad I read it with the lights on.
Good piece of flash fiction. Was rolling my eyes at first over how foolish the protagonist was, but the twist at the end took care of that.
Obsidian by J. Alexander Greenwood is the perfect one-sitting read for a dark evening in front of a flickering fire. All you can hear is the crackle of the flames and the ticks of your own house. And all you can think is, was that merely a tree branch waving at me through the black window? It's a short but effectively creepy literary suspense that brings to mind the best episodes of the original Twilight Zone series -- those unsettling tales of man versus the unknown. The characters here are like Rod Serling's true to life as they deal with the darkness in the world and in themselves. The setting drips with mood and the payoff in the end is highly satisfying. Get it.
This is a very short piece that I started and figured was going to be a horror story after the first two pages.

I am thinking guy alone, no phone, no where to hide and he is being spooked by aliens or an axe murderer or something outside his window.

The few short locations built suspense and pulled me in a direction I was certain was going to lend to a predictible ending. Not so. It ended totally different than I expected with the "creatures." Very nice twist.

Recommend getting this one free if you can (I always say...shorts are just not a good investment money wise) and save the dollar to invest in a longer work by this author. He can spin a tale.
